Purpose
The Khongso History Website is a dedicated digital heritage infrastructure designed to preserve, organize, and share the historical record of the Khongso people. Its purpose is to function as a long term cultural memory system that safeguards Khongso identity across generations, geographies, and dialect communities.
Mission
Our mission is to document and make accessible Khongso history, cultural traditions, language, and oral knowledge through a structured, searchable, and community verified archive. We curate oral histories, family narratives, genealogical records, migration accounts, cultural practices, ceremonial knowledge, linguistic resources, and historical timelines.
Primary Objective
The primary objective of this platform is to preserve and document the rich historical heritage of the Khongso people. We aim to serve as a digital archive that honors our ancestors’ legacy, ensuring that our unique traditions, oral histories, and cultural identity are accurately recorded and passed down to future generations. By sharing these stories, we hope to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Khongso identity both within our community and the wider world.
Vision
We envision a globally accessible, community governed knowledge hub where Khongso people can reconnect with their roots, learn their language, and transmit traditions with confidence. The site supports cultural continuity within Khongso families and cultural literacy for anyone seeking trustworthy information.
Documentation Standard
To protect accuracy, this archive distinguishes between oral testimony, family records, photographs and audio, and published sources. When information comes from oral testimony, it should be labeled as oral testimony. When information is supported by documents or published sources, it should be cited and dated. For sensitive or private materials, contributors can request restricted or private handling.
